The Acers that were on TV were probably those at Westonbirt Arboretum. The National Arboretum. It is in Gloucestershire near Tetbury. Mid October is the really busy time, when people from far and wide, flock to see the spectacular colour of the maples in their autumn colours. However, it is a wonderful place to visit at any time of the year. Open every day of the year, including Christmas day. Please do not be put of by the word arboretum. Think of it as a zoo, but instead of animals you get trees Read more..

Welcome woodsy. We grow Vitex agnus- castus. It starts to flower in late August beginning of September, and goes on till the frosts finish the flowers off .I have read that it loves the sun and heat and well drained soils. The past 3 years have been terrible summers, so maybe yours is just not getting enough sun to ripen the wood. Read more..

X Cuprocyparis leylandii "Silver Dust". A variegated form of the notorious Leyland Cypress. I would recommend you pick a piece to compare it to this pic, which shows a good close up of the plain green foliage. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:LeylandcypressLarge.jpg Here for Silver Dust...... http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.dkimages.com/discover/previews/919/40007182.JPG&imgrefurl=http://www.dkimages.com/discover/DKIMAGES/Discover/Home/Plants/Ornamental-Groups/Trees Read more..

Rhubarb, mine was not an id.... I was just using the internet to provide you with good links, to enable you to study your conifer, to see if kandeakay's suggestion was correct. If you could go back and take good close up of the cones, then that would help id the species of your conifer. Read more..

  • Re: Yellow flowered perennial

Forum post by Silver surfer on 08 Nov 2009

It should survive the winter OK. It is hardy. It is not an annual bedding plant. It will spread and get larger each year. However, it is rather slow to emerge in the spring so don't panic! From seed you will also have to be patient! Quote from 1st link..... "This perennial waited until two years after being grown from seed to flower. The second year it looked nice and lush," http://www.nccpg.com/gloucestershire/russelia.html Read more..
