    That's because there are now no longer any products available to amateur gardeners. Digging out or sweeping away before they've had a chance to produce spores are really the only ways of dealing with mushrooms/toadstools in the garden. Read more..

    Poinsettias need a position in good light and plenty of warmth (c. 21C), but away from sources of direct heat and out of draughts. Allow the compost to dry slightly between waterings and then give enough to moisten the compost thoroughly. A weak liquid feed every 7-10 days will also help. Read more..

    Normally this shouldn't cause concern. But during prolonged periods of extremely cold/frosty weather it may pay to cover them over with a mulch - but we're talking about conditions we haven't had in the UK for many years. Read more..

    The only solution (no pun intended!) when you spill anything on the lawn is to wash it through the soil profile and out of the root zone using several gallons of water. Read more..

    It certainly isn't mildew as this would attack the leaves. It could just be a natural/harmless fungus, or even a build-up of nutrients or chalk (if your water is alkaline). Read more..

    You can add Vitax SBK Brushwood Killer to the stump but this, like adding the fertiliser, takes several months to work. It's far better to dig out the stump or hire a stump grinder for the weekend. Read more..

    Yes, B&Q do tend to stock these products - although they might strip them out at this time of year to concentrate space on stocking other fast-selling items. They will be stocked alongside other pesticides - not necessarily in the houseplant section. Read more..
