Hi, I'm a bit of a novice at growing vegetables, but we inherited a well cultivated patch when we bought our house. I planted lots of onions and garlic and over wintered them. The garlic is now turning yellow and the bulbs are rotting. The onions (some of which are in the same bed) are all doing fine. I consulted my book which indicated this might be white rot.
