  • Runner bean pests

Forum post by Abrwstr on 22 Jun 2009

Hi I have grown a lot of runner beans this year mainly because we like them and they are an easy option in a smallish garden, the flowers have formed but the inside bit that turns into the bean pod is being eaten by small wasp/bee like insects, any ideas how to control this, and what these insects might be. Would be most gratefull for any help on this one. Regards Abrwstr Read more..

This plant looks like a type of grass when growing, it flowers about now ...April, with a pretty white bell shaped flower it has smallish onion type bulb at the root, (rather like a spring onion) The pungent odour of this plant is somewhat offensive even before it is disturbed. The smell resembles a cross between rotting garlic and onions and (sorry about this) dog faeces. My dog steers well clear of the patches where these grow, not a bad thing in itself, but I find that I have to hold my breath Read more..

Hi We have just moved into a sheltered bungalow and the garden was like a wildernes, we are slowly getting it into shape, but growing in the garden surrounded by a patch of gravel with weed membrane under it was this tree, it is only small approx 3 feet high at the moment, but seems to be growing at a rate of knots already. I do not want to dig it up before I can identify it just in case it is not a weed, but it is right in the middle of where I intend to put my veg patch, so any help would be much Read more..
