I had a large burberis in my garden which we cut back quite hard. It has now started to grow with renewed vigour. However over the last week I have noticed a white powdery substance covering all the leaves. Does anyone know what this is and why it has happened?

I have had exactly the same problem with my one. I did read somewhere that it is an ideal rose for a north facing wall - mine was in a south facing position which I thought would be ok when I planted it. However I have now moved it to a north facing position - firstly cutting it back quite hard - and it now seems to be growing ok, with lots of new shoots.

Last year I started to grow penstemons. Cant think why I hadnt grown them before. What a lovely flower. Anyway, as they were perennials I left them in the ground and cut back the old stems in spring this year. However, none of them grew and I wondered if it was because of the hard winter? I thought I would try again this year and have lots of them in flower, but I do not want to lose them again. Should I pot them up and bring them into the greenhouse for the winter or should they be alright where
