Suggest you cut back the clematis 12" from the ground and feed with general fertiliser The camellia is pot bound either repot in a pot at least 4-6" wider or better still put it in the garden it looks quite a mature plant from its trunk & branch thickness water well if put in the garden it will recover not sure about the clematis though

Perhaps try the seeds also buy a decent sized pant for cuttings they root in about 4 weeks check the BBc Gardeners world website for propagation methods

I have checked with hedge plants they only do 2litre pots bit expensive Not too difficult too take cuttings time is the problem

If the roses are inside they are too warm hence the shoots wrap the pots in poly insulation get them outside, leave the extended buds for the time being you may have to cut back or prune back stems to next bud down If you intend to grow in pots need to be 18-20" dia

Like you I planted the roses from Austin's 2 yrs ago I reread the planting instructions & decided to follow their advice a few days after I dug them up & planted deeper also used mycorrhizal worked wonders

Susan, that's good news I have two pansy baskets I am seriously thinking of overwintering in cold greenhouse they look okay but we are getting some sharp frosts. My good news is that the sweetpeas have germinated in the greenhouse just have to keep the mice away I hope they prefer Cadbuty Dairy Milk on the traps !

I agree with Ian I grow a agavevarious palms all hardy in North Manchester also dicksonia bananas & citrus except for the palms a have just gone into greenhouse heated to 46f The arcades give alot of offsets unfortunately I cut them off & compost

Good value is a Camellia flowers in spring rest of the year glossy foliage suggested varieties St Ewe, Donation, Leonard Messel, J C Williams Grows well in a container use an suitable lime free compost a bit of judicious pruning will keep it in shape
