Hi Tracy I am 3 years older than you but hoping to do the same thing. Until recently I was working as a nurse in a hospice and if it taught me one thing it is that life is far too short to waste doing something if your heart is not in it. I have also just started doing the RHS level 2 with Learning curve so if you want to compare notes or just have a moan about not understanding things then just let me know. I'm not sure quite what area I would like to work in just that it has to be something

Hi Tracey, I am doing the 'paper version' but only got the first part a couple of weeks ago so haven't really done much yet. I know what you mean about the plant names and stuff being confusing, its the biology bit that baffles me a bit, was never much good at science at school. I probably won't get much done over the school holidays with the kids being under feet but hopefully will get stuck in properly in Sept. I will send you my email address so that we can keep in touch and give

Thanks for your reply that is really helpful. I think I am going to aim for June for the first exam as that will allow time for any unforseeable's that might crop up, it will also give me time to really enjoy studying rather than just rushing through as quickly as possible. I think I might struggle a bit with the sciencey bits as that was never my strong point at school, however I have got a couple of good books and do find it interesting. Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

I am just starting my RHS L2 via distance learning and wondered how long it had taken other people to complete it. I was originally hoping to do one lot of exams in Feb and the second lot in June next year but I have spoken to my tutor about it and she said it is do-able but would mean doing one assignment at least every 3- 4 weeks which sounds a bit much. Now I think I would be better aiming for doing the first lot in June cos I don't want to be rushing through it so much that I don't have

Thanks Scott, have ordered both of those now. I have finally taken the plunge and signed up with Learning Curve so should be getting my stuff within the next couple of days. The price was a major factor plus I have heard quite a lot of good things about them so hopefully they should be okay.

Gosh, you sound very organised and disciplined. Did you do your level 2 on your own then? I don't think I would be that disciplined with myself and think I would need the kick up the backside that is provided by a distance learning provider (even if it is only a gentle kick) and someone telling me that I am going along the right lines. I am a relative newcomer to gardening and horticulture but I can imagine that someone with more experience would be able to answer a lot of the questions through

Hi Toria, I still haven't decided yet, still between RBGE and Learning curve. I was planning on starting in Sept so that isn't a problem but as you said the difference in cost is quite a lot. When you get your material from Learning Curve would you please let me know what you think of it and that might help me to decide. Good luck with your studies.

I am planning on starting to study for the RHS level 2 via distance learning. Can't decide between Royal botanic gardens edinburgh or Learning curve. RGBE looks and sounds better but as it is twice the price is it twice as good as learning curve? Money is not the only factor but just wondering whether it is worth paying the extra?

Thanks for all the advice. I must admit that the fact that RBGE provides CD's of presentations does appeal to me. It is great to hear from people actually studying with different providers and everyone seems very positive about the course. I am hoping to start in Sept and looking forward to getting back to studying especially something that really interests me. I think I will go with RBGE if I can find the pennies and would be interested in getting in touch with anyone currently doing the level
