  • Eat your Easter eggs in style

Published on 09 Apr 2009 at 11:43 AM

Get set for Summer with one of our stylish French patio furniture sets.

We have been selling these successfully with slight changes to the colour range each year. They are made using recycled materials and the most hi-tech 13-step metal treatment process' then coated in hard wearing ecological paint to make it colour fast and robust so it always looks fresh on your patio.

Our range includes classic Bistro tables and chairs that can fold flat. We also offer the Fermob 1900, a larger more ornate table with curled legs and a perforated designed top, and has stacking chairs. We even have a fun hanging armchair which would look great hanging from a sturdy old tree. The furniture is superb for the patio or terrace but also consider it for inside the house or conservatory. I have a set in my kitchen which looks very smart and is ideal as a breakfast table.

Our Bistro furniture comes in the colours Willow (see picture), sable and savanna. Tables start at £115. Matching chairs £60.
Buy the Bistro 60cm table and 2 chairs for £195 and save £40.
Buy the Bistro 96cm table and 4 chairs for £345 and save £50.

  • Recycle your old garden tools for schools - at Wisley Plant Centre

Published on 17 Apr 2009 at 08:53 AM

I've just had fantastic news from our alpine department supervisor.  He's just cleared out all the unwanted tools from their shed and brought them over to us for recycling.  If you've ever looked at that broken fork in your shed and reminded yourself to repair it (was it 2 years ago you said that?), then please let us help you out.  On behalf of The Conservation Foundation, we collect old, broken garden hand tools - from our staff, customers and now, I hope, from you.  They're whisked away to the prison workshops at HMP Wandsworth where the prisoners refurbish them and send them off to a renewed working life in local schools and community projects.  Here's a pic of some very happy school children with their refurbished tools

  • Amazing Acers

Published on 01 May 2009 at 09:35 AM

Wow, we currently have 81 different varieties of Japanese maple (Acer palmatum) in stock.
This is truly the best time to buy if you want the widest selection to choose from.
We have a huge range of sizes too - from the 3 litre pot size up to a whopping 160 litre. Prices start at £25. Varieties come in all shapes, colours and sizes from the finely dissected foliage types to those with large bold leaves.
They can be grown as small bushes, weeping standards and large trees depending which one you choose.
One of my favourites is called ‘Villa Taranto’ – with its deeply divided green and red foliage, but I think everyone has their favourite when it comes to Japanese maples.
These beauties always feature highly at the Chelsea Flower Show so be quick to buy before everyone else wants one.  Here’s Clare cuddling up to her choice ‘Viridis‘.

Guess who’s just been in The Wisley Plant Centre ……No other than Howard Ebison – one of the stars of the current popular BBC programme The Apprentice (http://www.bbc.co.uk/apprentice/).
Howard said hello to many of the staff including Nige Eaton – Head of Wisley Plant Centre.
Howard said “I cannot believe how big this place is and how many fantastic plants you’ve got!”
We wish Howard luck with the rest of the competition and hope to see him at Wisley again soon.

  • Black is back in the Wisley Plant Centre

Published on 08 May 2009 at 02:37 PM

You can't afford to miss the fabulous array of Irises we currently have in stock….  There are over 66 different ones to choose from including the gorgeous almost black cultivar ‘Superstition’ which Laurel and Michaela have their eyes on in the photo. This has to be one of my favourites, but I do tend to favour unusual coloured ones. We have many tall bearded Iris such as 'Baby Blue' and 'Rocket' plus intermediate ones and a few of the almost black Iris chrysographes types. Come in and buy them now before the Chelsea Flower Show starts, as these fabulous plants always feature highly in both the marquee and throughout the show gardens so we can sell out very quickly. Prices start from £5.99 for a 2 litre pot.
