Sounds like you're healing well, Sue. Good stuff! Think these accidents make us any more careful? I don't!

That hat was great that day, Susiq. I got it in Indonesia about 12 years ago but had never used it before. I'll be keeping it handy now, that's for sure.

You can download Firefox for free from here: http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/firefox/ -  it's a nice browser.

What did Portia think about being clipped? Did she mind? Me and my partner's mum sometimes take the clippers to my partner and he's surprisingly good about it, even when we say things like 'Oops!' and 'Do you think I've taken too much off there?' Smile I don't think he really enjoys it much, but he doesn't struggle Wink

Hi all, OH shaved Cecil the other day because he had grown his hair too long, during the springtime and summer OH shaves lots and lots of horses, she is really busy, OH has got some big clippers that work off re charge batteries, some horses need different sorts of hair cuts than others I think it depends if they are going to a show or if they are going to go racing, sometimes I ask OH to bring back some horse hair for my lottie, it's good in pea and bean trenches and it's good for stopping slugs getting at stuff, so if you lived nearer susiq you could just bring the dogs to our house to get shaved. My friends horse called William get shaved but his moustache gets left on, and in summer it grow really long and I can wax it at the ends so he looks like D i c k  DastardlyBig Smile

You are SO naughty DiggerDevil I wish I did live nearer as I'm sure your OH is very accomplished in the grooming stakes. We leave Portia's beard on too - as that is how an Airedale is meant to look - but I bet she wished she didn't have it just now, as Percy keeps dangling from it and won't let go!!! A friend of ours leaves out horse hair in a bird feeder in spring for the birds to use for building their nests - I thought that was a lovely idea, and it does all disappear very quickly.

Thanx very much for the link Miranda, I'll check it out after I've finished this. No, Portia didn't mind at all me using her as a guinea pig, and yes there were a few 'oopses' from me too - but she didn't complain bless her!

It has rained all day long todaySad I so wanted to get some weeding and deadheading done - I'm sure it will do the veggies good tho'.

WOW! I've just come on here via Firefox - thanx again Miranda! It all looks very different for some reason?!?!? I haven't opted for it to be my starter page - is that what you all do? Being a total idiot concerning all things internet-wise I wasn't sure if it would cause a problem? Gosh I'm turning our gardeners stuff into techy stuff - sorry, but am very grateful for all/any tips and advice.

The £20 for the clippers is a bargain Susiq, I'm sure you will get the hang of trimming the dogs in time.  With the amount Sasha moults, I've quite often threatened to shave her bald with the hair clippers we use for OH and son.  There is a chance that Sasha might be eligible for an operation on her hips and if it goes ahead, I could always ask them to shave her for meDevil

A horse with a waxed mustache, now that would be worth seeing. He is naughty, isn't he, Susiq. Glad that Firefox works for you. I don't see a problem with having it as your default browser. And if you don't like it, then you can always open a page with IE instead. I haven't used IE for a long time; very occasionally you'll find that a site only loads properly with it, but not very often.

I hope that you can get Sasha's hips done without any bother, Sue, but would it not outrage her sense of dignity to be shaved? How is she now? Is she all better?

I could threaten all I like about shaving Sasha's hair off but I don't think I could actually do it, she loves being brushed too much.  She's doing a lot better now thanks Miranda, her new medication seems to be working better than the old and the last two days we've walked to the park instead of taking the carBig Smile

Thanks Susiq,  your garden is getting well watered thenWink  We had a fifteen minute downpour yesterday where I stood by the back door listening to the water going into the water butt, it was a great sound.  So far today a huge black cloud passed us by without dropping a drop but we could get a load of it later.

Glad to hear that Sasha is doing well, Sue - it's a real relief when you can help dogs with arthritis. Is her upset stomach all better?

It's been raining a lot here the last couple of days, and everything has freshened up well, but now the ground is all soggy again. I really must get the last of the tomato plants in the ground!

Sasha's stomach upset is all better now thanks Miranda, no extra cleaning up to do latelyBig Smile

Everyone is getting the heavy rain apart from us - we've had a few drizzle showers but nothing major to speak of and about an hour ago we had a few rumbles of thunder with no rain.

What's happened to the leeks digger? are they salvageable?

Hurrah! We've got rain at last!

Sorry I've not been around - I've missed so much. I've been busy with work and watering the lottie with cans - at least I'm spared that tonight.
