Weird eh? D'yiu think our discussion has been genetically modified and there are now clones of all of us? If that's true, we can get them to go to work, clean the house etc and leave us free to do the gardening - well except when we have to take our turn keeping an eye on the Digger clone!

Whether you think you can do a thing, or think you cannot, you are right.

I wish.  I have no idea what has happened but the thread was duplicated when a new poster made a post on this thread, perhaps something went wrong with the posting for some reason and it doesn't seem to have happened anywhere else.

? what? I must be taking the wrong dose of medication or something?

Anyway it's very cold here today and the wind is picking up,hopefully I will get chance to test the soil in the polytunnel today at some point, I've got a grand heater for the tunnel, it's a paraffin heater that has a pipe fitted to the flue, the pipe is cast iron and is filled with water and it heats up evenly, it's a six foot long double pipe and should give off some good heat.I bought it second hand off my friend Tommy Hook, when I get it up and running I'll take a photo, it's in storage in the caravan right now, (along with loads of junk)

It's been very cold and windy here today too, and we had a two minute snow shower. That caravan of yours must be getting pretty full now digger, have you put those tomato plants in the compost yet?

That sounds like a mighty powerful heater you've bought Digger!

Sue1002, whaddya think is going on with the 'shadow' of our chat - your'e good at techy stuff?!?!?

I've been laid up in bed since Wednesday evening with the stomach bug from HELL! Haven't eaten anything at all, just water - only 10 cigs in 3 days and that is unheard of for me! (I can smoke my way thru' flu, colds etc.,) Anyroad, I'm back on my feet today - have even missed two nights of I'm a celeb - will catch up on them on 'tinternet'!

It is bitterly, bitterly cold here today, we've had some hail and snow but nothing is lying, I haven't ventured out as still feel very below par!

I hope you are better soon susiq, it's not fun when you're illSad Today I've been helping at OH's stables it's been very cold and we needed to put a new stable door on, the old one was trashed by Mac, he double barreled it and it splintered beyond repair. So we've got a new one made from 1 inch plywood, which is the same stuff we did the stable fronts with, we've not got any snow thankfully. I did get some soil from inside of the polytunnel and some of the good stuff from the raised beds so I will test each sample for N.P.K. and then I can feed each soil accordingly, but I'm not doing it tonight I'm knackered after today and yesterday at the stables, The paraffin heater is a good un when it's running it's not really big like the big red ones you can see for sale I think it's different because of the hot water pipes, and the caravan is still housing some old tomato plants yet! I did look in through the window earlier to see if the fuchsias and pelargoniums are okay.

Had something spooked Mac for him to break the stable door digger? you sound pleased that you haven't any snow though.

Hope you're feeling better soon Susiq, it sounds like you have the winter bug (norovirus I think it's called) that goes around every year and from what I've heard, it does knock you off your feet.  I've never had flu and it's been a while since I've had a proper cold (a few years now) and I've always been able to puff away no problem but you know it's something really horrible when you can't face the ciggies.

All I can think of with the 'shadow' is that somwhere along the line a wrong button got pressed, I don't know as it hasn't happened anywhere else.

It's snowing at the moment, let's hope for a blanket of the white stuff for when we wake up in the morningYes

In all honesty the original stable door was not very good and quite rotten in places, the front of the stables had been replaced at some time with sterling board which is awful heavy and useless against the elements, and so we had got the new wood ordered and did the fronts, but lots of horses boot the door when they want feeding or letting out so it didn't take Mac much effort to hoof the door down, he has undone the bolt before now on his door and he went and let the other horses out! luckily they were on a big yard that was well locked up, now all the doors are clipped over the bolt to stop any devilment.

Good evening, all!  We've had snow forecast for Friday and Saturday, but just a bit of flurries that amounted to nothing.  It's been in the 30's and low 40's (F).  Killed my dahlias back, finally, but the roses are still leafy.  Tomorrow, I need to rake the front yard, and clean out the beds.  I always wait till things are brown and dead before I do that.  Today, enjoyed a warm fire in the fireplace and did a bunch of reading.  I looked at some other blogs and got a real kick out of "Leave Me Alone, I'm Digging".    So cool!!

Hope you are over the stomach bug, Susiq.  Some folks around here have gotten it and I am knocking wood....  Digger, it looked like you refined the soil with tea leaves, it was so dark.  It probably is good loam, but you should test it nonetheless.  Good luck with the polytunnel.  It sounds like fun.  I have been thinking of getting one to start some greens....then again, I just may wait till Spring.

Beebee-I bet you will get an amaryllis around Christmas, right?  I read some guidance on an amaryllis site that said to put the bulb in the fridge 6-8 weeks and then re-pot to get it to flower again.  I wasn't at all sure that it would flower if left as it was.  It had leaves on it that wouldn't quit.  Really big long swords of leaves!!!  I just hope I am doing the right thing...

I don't watch much TV but folks talk about "American Idol", which is the American version of "I'm a Celeb", I guess.  So I know it is addictive entertainment, but I really can't sit and watch something for long, unless it's a suspense movie or thriller of some sort.

Hi all, last night's snow didn't amount to much but we've had some this morning which laid until my son collected it all to make snowballs for Sasha and Alue.  Looking at the sky, there is loads more to comeYes

I think the "American Idol" Foxnfirefly is the equivalent of our "X Factor" but I don't watch that one, I watch "Strictly come Dancing" on the other side as I find that one more entertaining.  The "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here" to give it it's full title is where celebrities go to a jungle in Australia for three weeks, they have to do trials to earn their food and some of them are really horrible.

Hi all, apparently we had a tiny covering of snow this morning but I didn't see it. I've done my soil tests for inside the polytunnel and for the raised beds, I've almost zero nutrients inside the polytunnel and a ph of 6.0. in the raised beds area i have 10mg per litre of Nitrogen,100mg/l of phosphorus, and < 50mg/l of potash and a ph of 5.5.

I guess this means I have a lot of peat in the soil, most soil round about here is neutral so I'll ding some lime into the mix.

X Factor is so much better than American Idol, and I'm a Celebrity is just weird, they eat too many weird things and that is just not right!!

We ended up with about an inch of snow and lots of ice, most of the snow is gone now. hopefully it does not freeze tonight, still need to get a few things covered up.
