I haven't managed to root any clems yet - I must try harder.

Whether you think you can do a thing, or think you cannot, you are right.

    Me do mischief Phot's ?

    Nah, never....

Good luck with Andy at the hospital tomorrow.

The only clematis I've had luck with rooting is the cirrhosa, and it self seeds and grows tooSmile

Yes clems are known for being unwilling subjects Phot's, i've done a lot of research and reading and as usual the Japanese have perfected their propagation, I'm looking into ways of encouraging them to root, using different hormone concoctions and different media coupled with pumping air around the base, I thought of using an air pump after a conversation with a friend in Japan, they have been using water three times a day to percolate down through the media and out at the base, the theory was that this took oxygen to the stems at the business end, anyway i thought i'll use water and add an air pump to give more oxygen, I found some clonex rooting gel at a nearby shop, (I think they mainly cater for hippies growing drugs) they gave me a sales brochure and in that they have a set up that incorporates an air pump, so i think i'm on the right track. they also sell extractor fans with special de odouriser built in so that no one can smell any crops and they sell a secret growing kit that from the outside looks like a wardrobe! and they sell bags to store your "dried crops" in,aand the bags are supposed to conceal any odours, all that mumbo jumbo leads me to think that they are catering for criminals to grow cannabis, but also there are some of us that have proper uses for the equipment, why would you want to remove the odour of your crop before the air is taken outside, unless you are growing illegal drugs,

Yep - sounds like they're selling to people who grow cannabis.

It must have been pure luck digger, perhaps the cirrhosa is an easy one to propagate.  I tried three times with the Avant Garde and failed, and I lost the main plant in late spring to clem wilt.  Don't know if it will come back next year but will be keeping my fingers crossed.

Poor Andy, its a lot for a little 'un to have to cope with, but I do think they cope better than we think, when they are young - its us that gets the heebie geebies! I hope all goes well for him. That seems an awful lot of faffing Digger for the clems, hope you get a good result for all the effort!

Same old, same old today - dull and damp - I agree Jo, its more like winter not the summer holidays, some of the trees are turning already AND there's a lot of berries about - far too early.

Looks like your pics have been kidnapped Sue1002.

Hope you didn't actually fall off your chair Phot's, but I know where you were coming from!

    Hi all, lunch break!

What joy its raining just for a change, no grass getting cut again today then. Had alot of info from college today though and now I am just confused which course to do.

I am stunned by the photo's of the huge lily, its magnificent! Mine has had flower buds for months but nothing has happened they dont get any bigger or show any signs of opening? It looks healthy enough, bit dissapointing.

Yes Susiq, it does look like my pics have been kidnapped doesn't it?  One was in response to your post about the way female dogs sleep and the others four were in a sequence which showed some facial expressions when Sasha was eating a chew.  If they don't appear soon, perhaps I will try them again but split them up.

After all this rain Jo, I don't think it will be too long before your lilies open.

We went out in the rain earlier to see a friend and as soon as we got there the rain stopped and the sun has since come out but the wind is picking up quite a bit.

It's wet and warm here today got back from hospital with Andy just after lunchtime, he's to have surgery in the next 8 weeks to remove one or two of the bolts that hold the end of the rod ? they don't yet know if the rod will stay or go,but they are going to free up one end of it soon. We've had loads of rain yesterday and today which has turned the ground muddy,OH has gone to move the horses to another field so they don't turn too much ground over.

It's still dry but very windy here.  It sounds a long time to wait for Andy digger, it gives him more time to worry doesn't it?

About the photos - I emailed to see if the number of photos in the posting was the problem, and apparently it was, so I will split them into three posts :-

This is the one that was in response to Susiq's way that dogs lie, it is Sasha's usual way of laying but at the time she was heavily pregnant

These are the next two of what we called funny facial expressions that were caught on camera when giving her a chew

Wow those are brilliant pictures Sue1002, the very last one is my favourite, i try to get sally to show all her teeth but she won't always do it. Richard used to show his teeth when he was not happy and he looked evil, but nowadays he prefers to sit quietly
