I have a pot bound aspidistra that I would like to plant out in the garden. It has been in an outdoor courtyard for about a year but I'm worried that it might not be hardy enough to survive winter in the garden which is more exposed though it would be in a shaded and sheltered position. Does anyone have experience or advice to offer?

Aspidistras should be kept above freezing so I'd only plant it out if you don't get any frost. Even then, if it gets very wet over the winter that might see if off. Personally, I'd get a bigger pot for it or cut it back (roots as well) and repot.
