I remember years ago, when I was a child, that older people used to say "Oak before Ash you're in for a splash, Ash before Oak, you're in for a soak". This being a reference to when the first leaves become visible in spring may indicate a dry or wet summer. I have kept an eye on both these trees during this time of the year and it seems to me that Oak is often/always the first to emerge. This year in central Warwickshire Oak has sprouted well over the last few days but with no sign of Ash doing so soon. So, are we in for another dry summer? Does anyone else have any signs that they know regarding the weather. Blackstart
