I'm planning to replace a Leylandii with some beech trees. The Leylandii is about 30m tall (it is very large) and I would like to plant three 4m beech in it's place. A nursery is offereing me three 20cm girth, 4m bare root trees, however, the earliest I could plant them would be the beginning of April. I believe the best time to plant beech is late autumn, but the nursery say that it will be fine to plant them at the beginning of April. They are at a good price, and if I get them planted by the nursery I can probably get a year's guarantee, but still I'm feeling nervous about it. Has anyone got experience that could help me decide? I should mention I live in the south east (Essex).

     Thanks and regards,
