When I walk over my lawn, which has not been touched since last autumn, I can feel loads of lumps and bumps.  Do I just mow it at the appropriate time or should I flatten it and if so flatten it with what because I don’t own a roller.

BML, It may be that too many forumites have moved on to other blogs so only rarely visit here. Do you know what is causing the bumps? If it is grass tussocks, then I don't think rolling will help. If it is the whole lawn that is now lumpy, I'm not sure rolling will cure it. You make need to tackle the cause which may be moles burrowing. Otherwise, it could be that you need to lift, flatten and then relay the turf. Good luck with finding the solution. M
