We gave our daughter half of a Clivia that had grown in our lounge for many years. She accused us of giving her mealybugs in her conservatory. We have never had mealybugs and I read on Google that Clivia cannot get mealybugs but I cannot find it now. Does any one know if it can?James

     Yes RHS article here https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?PID=655

Mealybugs seem able to attack any indoor plant, since they arrived with me I have had/got them on a range of cacti, succulents, hoya etc. Once you have them they are difficult to clear out. Putting plants outside in the summer helps control them.

I got them from a cacti I bought without close inspection or quarantine.

Thank you Nigel and that is a surprise. I could not find that article. This plant has been in the family for about 50 years and never had any other plants in the house so isn't any way it could get mealybugs. We gave her half and the half we kept has not got mealybugs. It's more likely it got them when it arrived in her conservatory. Thanks for the help. James
