Apart from Lily beetles on the lilies for the first time this year, I have found some small - ladybird size - green iridescent beetles on my rosemary. I have never seen them before. Has anyone any idea what they are, and if they are a pest or a friend?

Wasn't the Rosemary Beetle mentioned in last weeks Gardeners World. Try this site http://www.rhs.org.uk/research/projects/rosemary_beetle.asp for a picture and a description.

Lesley the RHS may be interested in this as it would appear to be one of the 'new' pests that may be spreading. I don't know if you had a look at the map on that site concerning the current spread of the beetle. If you don't live within an already identified area it may be important. Hopefully the RHS would pick the information of this forum.

I live in Fareham Hampshire and I am pretty sure I saw this in my garden a couple of years ago. I haven't seen it this year yet.
