Hi We recently sowed some cheap grass seed from B&Q on newly cleared land adjacent to natural meadow/grassland. Big mistake. The grass that has grown from the seed is, I believe, fast-growing, dark green Rye grass. It grows much more quickly than the surrounding natural mixed grassland. It looks awful and needs mowing more frequently. What can we do? A friend has kindly suggested sowing Yellow Rattle, but I don't think we should introduce this plant to the neighbourhood as there is none here at present. The affected area is about 50 square metres. Any ideas gratefully received. Thanks. Toggi

i would be tempted to remove some sections of turf from the preferred grassy area and transplant it into parts of the newly seeded area. though there is nothing to say that the new grass wont suffocate the wild grasses it might be worth a try.
