white fly

    Has anyone got any rock solid way to get rid of white fly in a greenhouse. I have tired spray, but it just knocks them back. the spray was given to me by a friend. but the spray has gone now but the fly have not... any help please would be very grateful..

    I presume it is Glasshouse whitefly in your greenhouse. Whitefly can be controlled with the wasp Encarsia formosa. There are whitefly traps that reduce the number of whitefly in the greenhouse but that does not mean the traps will kill all the whitefly. Removing the whitefly by a strong hose spray or by spraying with soapy water and by removing by hand should reduce their population in your greenhouse.

    My chilli plants always seem to attract the whitefly in the greenhouse every year.  I hang up the yellow sticky traps by the plants and this does help keep the numbers down.

    I have noticed recently that since quite a few spiders have taken up residence in the greenhouse, they have been very active in clearing up the problem - when I checked the plants this morning I didn't find any whitefly on the plants at all.
