earlier this year i planted a young jasmine which i intend to have growing near my back door spread across the fence.  it was a bit slow to get going and at first i thought it had wilted to nothing but i left it and it started to regrow.  only thing is it has just one shoot, albeit very strong and has now reached the top of the fence.  There's a couple of tiny very weak shoots near the bottom.  The shoot which has not reached the top of the fence is also fairly thick.  I was wondering if i should cut it back down again to try and encourage more growth from the bottom and so that it bushes out.  I think it is an evergreen variety with a white flower.  If i should cut it back down, how much should i cut off and can i do it now or is there a preferred time to do it.

    Thanks

Could you post a picture of the leaves please. There are several types of jasmine. Most are pretty tough and will grow and spread rapidly onceestablished but there's also one that's only borderline hardy which needs more tlc.

Whether you think you can do a thing, or think you cannot, you are right.
