Hi,
I'm hoping someone will know what this is. I've found a few patches of it growing in our lawn so I potted a couple of pieces up to see what it did when it wasn't being mown or eaten by rabbits.
It's very low growing with a creeping spreading habit. It appears to put out runners and has a root system similar to mint but very soft leaves that look similar to an oregano.
Very small white flowers have now appeared and it has a lovely lemon scent.
Many thanks

(I've put 4 pictures on flikr but I'm not sure this will work)

It looks similar to lemon balm but leaves are slightly young in your pic

Thanks to you both for your replies.
Sorry it's taken me so long to get back but my pc threw a wobbly.
Boo, thanks but it's definitely not lemon balm which we have far too much of. The leaves on the mature plant still in the lawn are much the same as these, very soft and looking very similar to oregano but with this odd lemon scent.
It's a real mystery

I don't know either. Looks a bit like a scented sage but the flowers don't seem right for that.
Whether you think you can do a thing, or think you cannot, you are right.
