I planted my apple tree (a good sized dwarf) 12 years ago. It was a good cropper and every year I enjoyed sweet, juicy red apples. But last year (to my horror) without permission, my next door neighbour savagely pruned it just before it was due to bud. Well I knew I would get no apples last year, but this year it did not come in to blossom and I'm worried that it never will again. Will it come back? Is there anything I can do? :(

If the tree is healthy and has plenty of green leaves then you will probably be OK next spring. A severe pruning on a mature apple tree will have given it a bit of a fright, and it has probably spent this year growing a lot of vigorous new shoots, some of which will develop fruit buds this summer which in turn will produce blossom next spring (or if not, then the year after if it was a really severe pruning). Basically I am sure as long as the tree is now growing and looks healthy it will eventually return to fruiting.

We have a lot of mature and productive apple trees in our garden and this year the only one with any fruit on is the Bramley - I suspect the timing of the cold weather affected the blossoming of the rest of the trees, so this may have been a factor for yours too.
