My dwarf Mugo is looking very sad the needles are turning brown and falling and it is getting progressivly worse. Does anyone have any idea what may be wrong and if it is treatable.  Should I just remove and replace? Any info gratefully received

Is that established..older plant or newly planted?

Have you fertilized..mulched or given 'anything' to it within last couple of months or so?

If it is newly(ish) planted..what (products, composts etc.) did you use for soil preparation?

Has there been any work done nearby..or have you/something possibly disturbed or damaged its roots?

It is difficult to know what the problem is by looking at the photo..so I'm going to need some back ground info...many things could have cause the needles to turn brown, it is your plant's way of showing for not being 'happy'.

     Hello,

The plant had been in about 7 years but has been showing signs since last year. I suspect that it may have had red needle blight which is increasingly common in Scotland.  The only green parts left on the tree were the tips.  I made the decision last week to remove it and I have replaced it with a Rhododendron.  Thanks for taking the time to reply.
