Hi, I hope someone can help me please. I have seen a beautiful tree which I believe to be a maple. It has variagated leaves - green edged with cream. The underside is purple/pink and the leaf stems are also a pink colour. I would love to buy one for my garden but need the name to be able to find it. Thanks very much jennywren

How large is the tree 1m or 10m...? How large is the leaf? Very difficult to guess without a pic.

Fantastic! first one is definately the leaf: shape and colouring. With the purple underside of number 2. Any idea what that would be called? Thanks so much for your help. jennywren

Another suggestion. Mottled leaves purple backs. Not sharp coloured edges as in Drummondii. Acer pseudoplatanus Nizettii. http://luirig.altervista.org/photos-search/index.php?title=Acer+pseudoplatanus+Nizettii Just a thought. A warning. Trees with purple leaves can be a bit gloomy in small gardens. Fine in open parks. Think very hard before buying any tree.
