I apologise for raising the subject again but I would really like to know whether Hestia dwarf beans should be staked or just left as an untidy bundle lying on the ground. Mine are now about 18 inches high and have started flowering from the top of the main spindly stalk - they show no sign of bushing out except at the bottom there are one or two tendrils coming off. Can anyone please tell me what to expect 'coz the picture on the seed packet looks unattainable! Many thanks

If the plants have flopped, you could give them a bit of support just to keep them off the soil. With beans like this, I generally grow them at the edges of raised beds or in pots, so they can hang over the sides, and find they do well that way. When it's happy, Hestia is supposed to crop very well so hopefully you'll get some good out of it.
