Good afternoon,
I planted this climbing Iceberg rose about 5 months ago and I've noticed the canes are yellowing at the ends. The lower leaves are also starting to yellow now and I'm concerned that there's a problem. Any ideas anyone?

Is your rose planted close to the wall?,it may be a little dry at the roots, also there are signs of blackspot, pick off and destroy infected leaves,I ,would then spray with a systemic rose fungicide, feed with tomorite or phostrogen

The piece in the photo is dying back because of the way it has been pruned. Try to cut closer to the new growth (or bud from where you want a growth to come) jon jon is right that anything planted near a wall could well be dry at the roots, so make sure you give it a good soaking when you water. To be sure, you can dig down afterwards and check the water is getting right down to the roots.

Agree with Phot's that the stem is dying back because of the pruning. The RHS advise making cuts no further than 5mm above a bud, as the stem is then more able to heal itself rather than dying back. There is some useful information on pruning roses here: http://apps.rhs.org.uk/advicesearch/profile.aspx?pid=186
