peas turning yellow/white

i planted some peas out last week, and although they are growing, they are growing increasingly more yellow, to almost white. the yellowing starts at the base and fades towards the new growth.
it has been very hot, and windy here in kent. the soil is dry everyday, and i have been watering them either every day, or every other.
why is this?

i maybe wrong but it sounds to me like they are not getting any nutrients from the soil. Give them a feed, every few days when you water them.
