Also could anyone tell me the names of some Bluebells that are not blue? or are they all just Bluebells? I have seen White, Pink, Dark Red, Light Blue, Medium Blue and Dark Blue (which seem to be the most common). Also what is the difference between a Bluebell and a Harebell?

Thank you so much for that information, I think that just about covered everything. I do have one more query about the Bluebell, I believe the English Bluebell has its bells appearing all down the stem and the Spanish one clusters at the top. Is that correct?

I think I got that last query the wrong way round according to one of the Google pages you posted, it seems to be the English Bluebell that clusters at the top of the stem. And the Non Blue's are all Spanish (Hispanica).

Hmm! Both Native British bluebell and the Spanish have a flower stalk with flowers on the top! So not quite sure what you mean. Just remember Native bluebells are scented, and the top of the flower stalk bends as if the flowers have got too heavy for the stalk. If you pick one and lay it flat on the ground you will see all the flowers are at the top as well. There is a 3rd bluebell which is a cross between the Native and Spanish bluebells! Hyacinthoides x massartiana. If you want to get technical I recommend you look at the 3 excellent links below. http://www.nhm.ac.uk/nature-online/british-natural-history/survey-bluebells/bluebell-identification/native/index.html . http://www.nhm.ac.uk/nature-online/british-natural-history/survey-bluebells/bluebell-identification/hispanica/index.html . http://www.nhm.ac.uk/nature-online/british-natural-history/survey-bluebells/bluebell-identification/hybrid/index.html

In general English bluebells have flowers on only one side of the stem ,this is why they bend over,I do have white English Bluebells in my garden,Just to confuse matters
