    Hi there,

We are getting married on 3rd August 2013 and would like some advice. We are hoping to decorate the venue with various planters and pots and would like to know what plants would be flowering at that time of year? Ideally we would like to plant them ourselves to try and reduce costs. We are then going to base our colour scheme around what plants are flowering.

    Any help gratefully received.

    Kind Regards,

    Luke

If you use any of the 'common' bedding plants that any garden centre is selling now..all those will be in full bloom at the time of your wedding. Pick them small and lush looking for now..and they will keep growing and once they've reach flowering size they will keep going until frosts. You do need to remember to keep them well watered and fertilized..and if you keep picking most of the spent flowers/seed heads your plant will reward you with results.

You can save a bit of more money by going into garden centre..ask staff some questions if you are not sure what to choose. I would advise getting some bigger centre piece plants from garden centre (yes they are bit costly)..but you should end up with good quality and free advise..and buy all the other cheaper plants from DIY (homebase, B&Q etc..) as they stock them in larger trays and for much cheaper price.

There is no reason you could not buy all your plants from DIY places..nothing wrong witht their plants..particularly if you catch them when they have just arrived into store and they are looking their best. Some places staff is not up to looking after their plants very well. These store usually have very good selection but they might be limited if you are after something very particular.
