While at Wisley in May 2010 I saw this wonderful tree in full bright pink leaf. Returning to the USA I tried to obtain a plan from US supplier but until this sping could now. Now I have one planted in my garden. However, it is only a single trunk and the information supplied with it states it will grow to be a 40 foot tree. The specimen I saw at Wisley is multi-trunked and smaller. Does anyone have experience with this plant and how do I get it to have multiple trunks?

I think you need to prune it to get the multiple stems, as described here http://apps.rhs.org.uk/advicesearch/profile.aspx?PID=121
