I bought two lovely dahlias last year and overwintered them according to instructions - Took them out of their pots, let them dry, then covered them loosely with garden fleece but yesterday when I looked at the tubers, they are soft - not completely soft and mushy, just soft.  Is this how they should be or should they be firm?  I hope I haven't lost them ?

     Hi Eva,

I'm afraid I would expect them to be firmer if still OK after over-wintering . I keep mine  dry, cool and well aired all winter and then plant them up on top of a warming plate about now to produce lots of shoots for cuttings. Magic !
