squash and tripods

  Reply | Contact Hello, I'm planning to grow squash up tripods next year.  Butternut squash, gourds, small pumpkins.  I'm wondering, how far apart must the plants be when planted in a ring to grow up the tripod?  The usual distance is about 1 metre apart when planted conventionally on the ground, but this would mean the plants would have to be planted some distance away from the tripod.  Do I just need to give them more food and water than usual?  Thanks for your help.
