seed pod 2.jpg Please will somebody help me to identify this deciduous climber which has produced a most fascinating seed pod. About the size of a large kiwi with much softer down and a kidney shape. It is currently pale green but may change with ripening. The climber looks like an aggressive clematis, having sent out tendrils about 2-3m long (supported by a crow-sown cotoniaster horizontalis and amelanchier. This is our first year in the garden. Thank you.

Could you please post a picture of the leaves?

Whether you think you can do a thing, or think you cannot, you are right.

Sounds like Akebia quinata: http://www.crocus.co.uk/plants/_/climbers/classid.225/ - I've heard that the inside of the fruit is edible, though apparently it doesn't taste of much.
