I was looking for some history on one of my old tools, a Staniforth sickle when I came across this webpage. I thought members might find it interesting.

Anyone know of similar webpages on the history of garden tools?

Here are a couple of other web pages on old garden tools. Firstly, an article on tools from an 1835 encyclopedia:

oldgardentools.co.uk is worth a look, and their 'useful links' page might be helpful:

By the way, I use an old fork which has 'BST' stamped on the shaft. I now know from your Spear & Jackson family tree that this was made by Brades Skelton and Tyzack, presumably between 1962 and 1967. So thanks for the link!
