Hiya everyone,
Well this is the first day in what seems like weeks, that its not raining so far!
Wow Sue that sounds like a brilliant day out for your son, I bet he'll have a fantastic time. Yes, we take the buckets whole, with the haulm cut off, then they tip the tatties out and weigh them in front of you, hopefully no-one cheats and adds some 'shop bought' ones to their soil - I'm sure they would know if they weren't the right ones!
Looks like you had a great time yesterday Richard with your chums. They showed your area on the tv first thing this morning, and looks like you've got the sort of rain we've been having - hope it clears up for you.
I'm putting a few more varieties of lettuce in the poly today, that I'd started off in the GH - needless to say, loads of weeding to do before I can put them in Oh my tree tom is getting really tall Sue How's yours doing?

Good luck with the spuds tomorrow Susiq, that's a good idea for them to tip the buckets out in front of you. Glad your tree tom is doing well for you. My one outside is about two foot high and has just started to flower and the one in the greenhouse has quite a few flowers on it and one tomato so far. The leaves on the greenhouse one are not quite so yellow now as they were a couple of weeks ago since I gave it a feed

Hi everyone. Mostly cloud here today but did have a few sunny bits in between. Glad you are still keeping up with 'church' Richard , don't think I will be needing my hosepipe any time soon . I have had a really poor crop on my strawberries this year. Good luck with your spud bucket tomorrow Susiq . My tree tom is doing very well too Sue, it is a good four foot high and full of flowers. Only had a quick dash round Sainsburys this morning so only bargains I noticed was Ariel actilift,Haagen dazs, bacon and lamb steaks. Sure I missed loads but was in too much of a hurry Well, I have decided to join the millions out there and have got the 'Shades of Grey' trilogy to read

It sounds like your tom tree is doing really well lillyrose I'm hoping that mine will get some more fruits on it that will ripen up so I can save some seed and hopefully, next year if the weather is good, they might actually grow like they're supposed to Yes, it does indeed sound like the rain has put paid to many fruits this year, and I bet we will see an increase in fruit prices this year because of it. I actually counted the apples on my tree a few days ago - there are 16 on it so I'm hoping that Sasha isn't going to help herself to her 'one a day' like she's done in the past... The "50 shades" is certainly doing the rounds I think every woman in the country has either read it or about to read it (I'll be starting to read it later on tonight) and I see that the trilogy is selling quicker than the Harry Potter books. I also read the other day that it's going to be made into a film, I wonder how much they will cut out of that?

I am going out for dinner tonight , in the next week, 2 of OH's Sisters and yours truly have a birthday so we are going for a big family meal to celebrate. At the last count there was 20 of us going so should be a good night . Good luck Susiq

Yep, raining here, too! Lol, Richard - my waterproofs get pretty mank. Don't think anyone would want to hire them with the amount of mud and debris they get covered with! That sounds like a fascinating day for your son, Sue. How did he get on? I was told once that one of the signs of a buried body is a thick patch of nettles and when I've dug up a few in gardens, there have been the bones of small mammals underneath. The slugs didn't get our strawberries, but the blackbirds have eaten them instead. As there isn't that much food for them in this wet weather, we've let them have the strawbs instead. They seem to like them a lot! Enjoy your dinner out, lillyrose!

Hello all and a dry Saturday here...cloudy though but not raining , so I won't need your waterproofs today (hopefully) Miranda.
Hope you enjoy your meal out tonight lillyrose, Nicola is out tonight too to a friends wedding afterparty. She is going to Wales on Sunday until Friday, so we will be having a bit of peace here..and no washing up !
I'm envious Susiq we have not even had one strawberry yet from our plants.
I have never heard of a tree tomato Sue sounds intriguing!

Enjoy the dryness Richard, I think you might be the only part of the country that is dry at the moment It has stopped raining here but there's a lot of surface water about, it was a good thing there was nothing coming round one of the roundabouts when I went shopping earlier as there was water all the way across the road and I couldn't stop I bought the tomato tree seeds off Ebay, and had a couple of spare plants left over so I sent one each to Susiq and lillyrose. They are supposed to be perennial and grow really big so it will be interesting to see if they do survive more than one year and what we actually get off them. I've just realised Richard that I owe you an apology. I remember saying a few months back that I would send you a couple of 'Bolivian Rainbow' chilli plants once they had got a good root system on them. I took a couple of those out of the seed pot and potted them up for myself in the greenhouse and put the others with some other spare ones I had but once they were outside hardening off, the slugs/snails finished them off. I'll definitely save you some seed from this year's crop though. My son did enjoy the outing yesterday thanks Miranda. There were five local schools taking part and they got a vision of how the police deal the situation when attending to accidents and putting up the road signs to warn other people. He loved the assault course in the afternoon and got a bit muddy...

Morning all, it's a lot brighter here this morning with some big puddles still about from all yesterday's rain but at least it should be dry all day today. Hope it's dry for everyone else today too. Hope you had a good meal last night lillyrose.

Glad you've had a lovely dry day today too Richard and were able to plant out your tomatoes. It's been lovely and sunny here and I cut the grass, did some weeding and picked some more mangetout peas and the last of the broad beans. I also dug up just a few Charlotte spuds.
It was liver and bacon for our dinner with the Charlotte spuds, broad beans and peas, and that was followed by a homemade lemon and lime cheesecake.
