That's a shame you didn't get any rain last night lillyrose, did you get any in the end today?  It really bucketed down at work for the last two hours I was there and when I got back home, there hasn't been much here at all, it's surprising how much difference there was in 14 miles.

I think Percy will have to start having mop heads attached to his feet SusiqWink

Enjoy your meal out tonight Richard.  That was a good price that Nicola got those crumpets for, I'm not a great lover of them myself (I prefer the muffins) but OH likes them.

No didn't rain today either Sue, it is very cloudy out there now but doesn't look like rain clouds.

Love that image of Percy with mop heads attached to his feetBig Smile.

Hope you enjoy your meal tonight Richard. That was a bargain Nicola got with the crumpets, I love them too, with plenty of butterStick out tongue and OH likes them with golden syrup.

    Fish pie for dinner tonight

Morning (just aboutWink) all.  It's quite overcast and feeling rather muggy out there at the moment, although it was nice and sunny when I was in town.  There isn't any rain in our forecast but if it's going to, it can at least wait until the washing has dried on the line first.

     Good Afternoon(just) all,

A fine day here Sue, cloudy though. We are just going up the farm shop for some fruit and veg and to get a cake box for Nicola. She is in Wales for the weekend. A friend of mine and C's has just got a greenhouse so she is very enthusiastic to grow things. She has put the tomato grow bags in there already even before her OH has put down the flagstone floor. She comes here for a chat every Friday morning. I gave her some blue peas to try too...Geeked

Have a great day all and I will catch up later..Big Smile

Hope you got what you wanted at the farm shop Richard.  I haven't done very much at all today.  Not long after I wrote my last post, it did start drizzling so I had to finish the washing off in the tumble dryer and then I nipped to Homebase as I had a 15% voucher I can use this weekend, I found some patio fruit trees and came away with a plum and an apricot.  They did have a peach there too but it was in quite a sorry state with only one branch having some leaves on it and all the other branches were dead so I left it there and will go back in a few days to see if they've had any more in.  I'm going to plant them in 30 litre pots (which is what is advised on the labels) as I don't have garden room for them.  The plum will be ok leaving outside over winter but I think it would be best if I put the apricot (and peach if I do find another one) in the greenhouse over the winter.

Morning all, it's a lot cooler here and probably going to be the only dry day of the whole holiday weekend so I'll get into the garden and do a few bits out there today.

    Hi all,

Missed you all yesterday as I was a busy bee up at the new place. Like the sound of your new fruit trees Sue, what varieties did you get? Ha ha I giggled too at the thought of Percy with 'mop-feet'!

I took Portia off the painkillers yesterday, and unfortunately she started to limp badly again today - so will put her back on them and see how she does on Wednesday (after the bank holiday) I've got a horrible feeling that an op may be in the offing, poor girlSad

Has anyone got anything special planned for the Jubilee? We are supposed to go to a leek club barbeque tomorrow, but I don't know what time our new guests will be arriving here tomorrow, hopefully they won't be too late, and we can still go.

     Hi everyoneBig Smile.

I was missing yesterday too Susiq, just don't know where the day went.

Ahhhh poor Portia, I really hope she wont need an op, can't remember if you said why she keeps limpingHmm. Hope your guests arrive early enough for you to enjoy the bbq tomorrow. We are having one on Monday, bbq that is, not guestWink.

I liked the sound of your fruit trees too Sue, will look forward to hearing how they do. Hope you get the gardening done that you want.

We had a bit of rain here first thing but it didn't amount to much and soon dried up and now the sun is coming through.

Oh no Susiq, that's not good news with Portia but at least you have her insured if she does need an op.

Hope the weather is good for you both Susiq and lillyrose for tomorrow and Monday, it's forecasted to rain here both days which I suppose is typical bank holiday weather.  We don't have anything planned in the way of celebrations but we are going to see GS on Tuesday.

I've potted up the fruit trees today into 45cm pots, the plum is called 'Glory' and the apricot is 'Early Moorpark'.  It's too cold outside as we've got a bit of a stiff icy breeze out there so I'm staying in for the rest of the dayWink.

    Still grey and cold here!

Portia damaged her back knee Lillyrose (god knows how), and the vet said if it doesn't improve, she might have to have an implantSurprise I am SO praying that that won't be the case, but the way she's been limping today, I do sadly feel the worst! I've put her back on the painkillers for now.

Calves liver and bacon for us tonight - good grief we are back to winter food, as that's how it feels up here!

We just x'd Sue - I guess I was asking is your plum tree a Victoria or damson type? I made the most amazing damson vodka last yearWink The jam was lovely too - but I did have a lot of help in making the jam! Everyone aroundabout was asking if anyone had any 'damson's' to spare, but I think we all had use for what fruit we had! Don't blame you for staying in, its damn freezing here, I've got the heating on full blast!

Yes, it's definitely gone cold again Susiq, the heating isn't on here at the moment but it had clicked on first thing this morning.  Enjoy your nice sunshine while it lasts lillyroseWink

Here's a pic of the apricot

and one of the 'Glory' plum, it says on the label they can be eaten straight off the tree or used in cooking

It was homemade pizza for us tonight, the toppings I put on were bacon, mushroom, tomato and cheese, I knew something was missing and realised afterwards, I'd missed off the onion!

They look lovely and healthy Sue and a nice size too. Will they be ok to stay in pots for good, I wouldn't mind more fruit trees if I could keep them in pots and they weren't very big.

I like your green wiggly things for climbersSmile

Morning all, it's a wet and quite windy one here this morning, I needed my waterproofs taking Sasha out but she didn't mind coming back a soggy doggy.

Yes lillyrose, the trees are ok to stay in the pots for goodSmile  The labels say they can be planted either in the ground or in 30 litre pots and will grow to 2 metres high.  I got my son to check the web for me to find out what size pot a 30 litre is and he found a 30 litre one that was 40cm wide by 33 cm deep.  When we went to look round a couple of places yesterday, I found some 45cm pots and have planted the trees in them.  If you've got a Homebase near you, they've got 15% off this weekend and the 'patio' trees that were in ours are apple, pear, apricot, plum, the half dead peach and some cooking cherries which were covered in cherry blackfly.

Those green spiral canes are different aren't theyWink  I bought those at Chelsea when I went in 2010 and only just got them on the coach on the way home, good job I went for the 6 foot ones and not the longer ones!

A day for being indoors methinks, Lidl's have some pork leg joints at £2.99 per kg, so we've got one of those for dinner today.  I'm going to use the preserving pan I got for Christmas and have a go at making some rhubarb and red cherry jam, I got the cherries off the market on Friday (2lb for £2Big Smile) and hopefully, there will be enough rhubarb in the garden ready to use.
