Morning all, sunny with a bit of a breeze today.

Hope it's warmed up a bit for you now lillyrose.  I did have a good shop today but no great bargains to speak of.

I noticed this morning that one of the courgette seeds has finally germinatedYes must have been the good mix I made up earlier on in the weekSmile

Have a good day everyone, I think we are off out a bit later on to see OH's family, so if we do go, I'll catch up later.

Cloudy and very chillio here LillyroseSad What a difference from yesterday, when we were all melting!

Have just finished the 'change-over' and need to get more plants in the lodge garden, before the guests arrive. The garden is like it's in two halves - the half that I put a load of compost on, is roaring away and the plants are looking great, but the new plants in the other half are in a bad way! OH is just wheelbarrowing me round more compost to put on the sickly side, thank goodness I've still got a load more hardened off ones ready to plant out there, I was going to put them in our garden, never mind, at least I've got some to use!

Ha ha, first of the courgette brigade Sue, no doubt you will be moaning in a couple of months about what to do with them allWink Have a good time out this afternoon, if you do go.

It did warm up here SueSmile, the sun has been out since mid morning and although there is a breeze it is still hot. My courgettes have got flowers coming on themBig Smile. Mind you I did sow them very early. The first flowers on the runners have opened today and I noticed three flower buds on the aubergines. Also the first sweet pea flower opened today. I haven't really done much today, a quick run around in doors then just a gentle potter in the garden. Lucky you had spare plants to put in the lodge garden Susiq, what have you got growing in there.

Sounds like you've got loads coming good LillyroseYes I've got aubergine envy - the 8 plants I'd grown from seed and then put in the poly got snaffled by the slugsAngry Good job I'd put a couple in the GH! I always do the same (annual) stuff Lillyrose, for the main part of the Lodge garden - olde english marigolds (courtesy of Phot's) and dahlias, cos they put on such a good show from June, until the frosts, and always bulk out really good. The middle of that part of the garden has a gorgeous contorted (sorry senior moment!) can't remember if its a hazel or a willowEmbarrassed We only planted it three years ago, and its really come on wellSmile I will bore you all tomorrow with a little slide show, its ages since I posted any pics, but there's loads going on at the moment, some that I'm really pleased with, and er might even post a pic of one of the (as Eva says) 'weed centrals'!

I'm doing a prawn curry tonight, what is everyone else having? er cept Richard, who is hopefully not being 'ripped off' in a central London hostelrySurprise

Sorry you didn't get the sun today Susiq, but with you doing the change-over, you wouldn't have wanted it this morningWink hope it arrived for you later on though.  Yes please for your slideshow, I promise I won't find it boring, I'm sure it will be lovely as they usually are when you take lots of garden photosBig Smile

Hope you didn't get too burnt today lillyrose, I felt my arms starting to go red just as I was finishing weeding the front garden (we didn't go out in the end).  I've got a few young perennials to plant out in the front garden tomorrow which probably won't flower until next year but they can at least start settling in.

Our dinner tonight was sausages, new potatoes and homemade coleslaw.

    Hello from a stranger  Embarrassed

Hope you are all doing well. Big Smile

I've been missing the forum heaps, but have been juggling a few too many hats recently, and stupidly had my emails bypassing my inbox, which meant I haven't kept up at all.

For a quick update, I've found a nice little temping job with a local firm (funnily enough they sell garden furniture!) and I've been there two months so far and its ongoing.  However, the full time work has left too little time for being online - am starting to get the chance a bit at work now, but at first it was waaaay too busy.  Of course, if I get too much time for the forum then I daresay the job will dry up so I cant complain!

Plus camping season is in full swing so I'm often not about at weekends either for a catch up.  And I work alternate Saturdays too, but so far haven't really had a 'day-off' in the week as I've been taking the Bank Hol Mondays as days off.

Anyway, i've sorted out the redirect on my emails, so hopefully I can read your posts and maybe drop by from time to time.  Our lottie is going great guns, although I've failed miserably at doing anything with flowers again this year - I have a few kicking about but still nothing planted out.

Sorry to be me-centric, but I havent caught up with the posts, just thought I'd leap back in - I hope everyone and their nearest and dearest are well!  Smile

Morning all, it's sunny and very windy here today, I don't think I can remember it being so windy for so long at this time of year before.

Nice to see you popping in AutumnTiger and good luck with your new jobSmile

Have a good day everyone, I think I'm going to have a lazy one todaySmile

Morning all, it's cloudy and very windy here and chilly too. The wind got up during the night and was so bad it woke me up a couple of timesSurprise. I was dreading looking round the garden first thing but touch wood nothing has been blown away or damaged. Yes please from me too Susiq for pics of your garden, I love looking at yours and Sue's as they are both so lovelySmile. I wish I could grow Marigolds, I love them but the smell makes me feel really sickIck!. I have got a contorted hazel growing in a large pot in the garden, it is very boring in the summer but looks stunning in the winter once all the leaves drop. Did you save me any curry SusiqWink. If the weather stays like this I think I will do something warm and stew like for dinner today, I will probably light the fire this evening too. Hi from me too AT. I was going to have a lazy day today too Sue but OH wants to gut both the sheds and be ruthless in throwing stuff out. I don't mind too much though because as soon as we can empty one of  them completely I am going to start turning it into a kind of summer house/den for meBig Smile. Have a good day all, don't forget a pic of P&P for me too please Susiq x

Good morning everyone, I woke up to Storm and a bad case of muscle-ache today. I've been working almost non-stop at the lotty for the last 2 days, it was gruellingly hot (it got up to 30 degrees yesterday Surprise ) and I've only got about halfway through all the weeds. It wouldn't normally take this long but there's a weed that needs pulling out roots and all, if not it spreads like wildfire and tangles up around the roots of all my plants. Not sure what it's called, but it should be called  something like Devils Noose or The Mat of Death! Devil

Hiya AT, *wave* long time no read! Good to hear you're being kept busy at work but still get time to go camping! Yes I hope you've also had time to sort out your next uni job/course s well!

I'm looking foward to your pics Susiq, can you throw in some of the garden at the cottage as well please? LOL - was almost tempted to buy a courgette plant yesterday but remembered just in time how many courgettes I was offered  by neighbours last year, so I passed. I did buy 10 sweet corn plug plants and a couple of cabbages and some delphs and daisies for the already overfull flower beds. I hope we get a dry spell today so I can plant them out.

Morning to you too Sis, I think I'll take a leaf out of your book and have a lazy Sunday too!  It'll be good to give my skin a rest from all that sun, despite all my efforts I've got a bit of sunburn as well, mainly my back. I use a sunblok chapstick on my nose, works like charm and easy to (re)apply and it doesn't melt into your eyes and burn like normal suncream often does.

It's still raining, so  think I'll sow the pumpkins and tidy up the balcony. And maybe, a very big maybe!, do some admin, the mail has been stacking up for weeks now... Embarrassed

Hi all, Lucky you Eva having some good sunshine, we got sunny on thursday afternoon and friday was scorchio all day! I spent the entire day out in the garden but saturday was windy and cool and now today is just cold and raining again! what a rip off. I did get some work done in the front garden and in the back garden as well, but i've not been to the lottie in ages ,so i think it will be a weed haven.

From the sound of it, I think the best of the weather is over this side of the country.  Although it is windy outside, it's still very warm and hardly a cloud in the skySmile

Have fun gutting those sheds lillyrose, just make sure you're absolutely sure you don't need anything before it gets chucked outWink  It sounds like Marigolds have the same effect on you that Geraniums do on me, and I come out in a rash as soon as I touch them so I don't bother with those any more.   I always grow some Marigolds but the slugs and snails tend to eat the flowers virtually as soon as they open up.

Yes Eva, give your muscles a rest todaySmile

After all the rain you've had Digger, I would imagine the weeds would have run rife down at the lotty but they should be easy to pull outWink

Didn't do the sheds in the end, it started to rain soon after I finished posting and although it stopped after about an hour we didn't want to risk getting everything out only for it to start again. You are lucky you have sun Sue, it is still very cloudy here windy and really cold. Enjoy having a restful day today SisSmile. Can't seem to find your puppy pics Digger, hint hintWink
