The Flash Cards sound interesting so I too would be very interested in where you downloaded them from.

I like the YouTube links that GardeningFin posted, thought they were really useful.

I started to do my Level 2  via KLC's Designing with Plants course - am still continuing with this but found because there were no deadlines I was pants at being structured in my learning. So, I have bitten the bullet and am now going to a 4 hour 'evening' class which covers the course content in 30 lessons - in other words September to June.

Our tutor has some good ideas of helping us to remember things the best of which at the moment is playing Botany DominosBig Smile! We have a set of cards which have a Phrase or Word (eg  Xylem) at one end and a definition at the other. All we then do is partner up a word/phrase with it's definition therefore ending up with all the cards linked as in dominos. I'll ask her at the next class if she made these or if she got them online and post the answer.

If you haven't got the Principles of Horticulture book make sure you get the newest edition as it is in colour and much easier to find your way round I think. I have both and use the newest the most. Plus, I too have the famous Red Book but prefer the Principles of Horticulture more - colour piccies I expect!!!

Hi Helenmb, The dominoes sound interesting especially over a pint or two! If you hear she has downloaded them l would be interested to know how to get them. Fun for all the family! If you want to join us on the Facebook site you would be more than welcome. Not sure if we will all be able to keep up with you though!

Hi, Have a look on this (the RHS) website, under the education tab you will find links to the RHS level II course. Once there you can download the guidence note and syllabus. ( it may be in the section for tutors ). Just check that what you heve corresponds with this, if it doesn't ask why not? You will also find lots of past exam papers and it's all free.

I sent an email to my tutor and she came back with the following software that she uses to make Crosswords - will ask her tonight about the Dominos.

    http://www.eclipsecrossword.com/  Its free BTW.

You just add in the words and definitions in that you are having difficulty remembering and hey presto the software makes a crossword for you to print out and solve. Think this is a good idea too. She has given these to use at the start of a lesson which re-caps the previous session. If I make some up for myself I'll let you know in case anyone wants a copy too.

Hope this helps - H Smile

Willowman - I've just PM'd you about the domino maker.

I now have a copy of it, its an Excel Spreadsheet with a Macro that creates the dominos for you. All you have to do is type in 26 words/phrases and their definitions and the macro creates them to be printed out and you then cut them into strips. I haven't yet had a go but will do so at the weekend I think.

We used them again last evening in class and they really make you think hard about what goes with what - I really like them.

Still interested in the Flash Cards that  GardeningFin mentioned so if you are reading this GardeningFin I'd love to know which program you used.

If anyone wants a copy of the Spreadsheet PM me with your email address (I hope I won't live to regret this!).

I've found that I can't concentrate for long study sessions. So, this week I've tried frequent short bursts, say 1 hour 5 times a week. It has helped a lot.

    Little and often!

I Agree. There is no point in trying to slog away without a break now and then. Drinking lots of water is meant to help. As well as a good diet! Lay off the takeaways!!
