    All,

This is my first post here, and I am very new to gardening, so please treat me gently.

I have just purchased a new property with a garden which was planted up by the previous owners. I would be grateful for any details anyone can provide on the plants within it. I have taken a number of photographs all of which can be seen at the following site:

[Click an image to see a larger version and click the small arrows to progress an image or hit the 'Index' to go back to the index of images.]

I am particularly interested in identifying each of the plants and understanding what is the most appropriate form of care.

    Thank you,

    Chris

I believe 2 and 3. are the same plant. Is that correct?

It is either a willow or Pyrus salicifolia Pendula. Common name Willow leaf pear. Does it by any chance have tiny pears on it.

If you have more, please can you do them in batches of 3 and start a new thread. It makes it easier for further discussion.... should it be needed.

Chris, are you taking the Michael. I have just had a look at the next 4 pages.

     24.  35.36. 50 and 51 .....All are the Pyrus salicifolia pendula. Complete with label!

Other pics are similar/duplicated pics of the same plant.

PLEASE   in future group all pics of the same plant together.

Yes, I think2 and 3 are from the same plant. I tried to get a long shot and a close up shot of the leaf of each plant, so there are often two shots of the same plant. There may also be two of the same plant around the garden. I basically took a couple of shots of each plant int the garden. I captured flowers where there were flowers. Chris

I am not taking the michael, I simply took plenty of shots so I have a record. Already the help given has been hugely beneficial. I have little or no idea about plants, so the pointers given is already narrowing down my searching and I appreciate the help. Than you Chris

The label was found on the floor near several plants I took it to help me identify the plants, but I wasn't sure to which it relates. I was hoping to look it up in a book and then compare with the plant pics. Chris

Just to clarify at this time of year the Allium hollandicum ( the lone label) will not be visible as it as a bulb that flowers spring/ early summer. The label was probably in the general area of where it was last seen.

"I am not taking the michael, I simply took plenty of shots so I have a record"

This is an excellent idea. A general shot of the whole plant, plus a close up of the leaf, a flower or fruit definitely helps. However you must group all pics of the same plant together when you post.

Do  a max of 3 different plants at a time in a post.

Write a note Pic 1-4 are the same plant.

I am very willing to help. I try and go to a lot of trouble to give latin and common names, plus links direct to each plant so that you can compare.

But why should I spend all that time and all that work, for someone not prepared to make an effort.

I suggest you go out with your camera and start again. Post in a new thread. You will find several very knowledgeable folk  here who will help you. When those have been answered post the next batch of 3.

    Regards  Silver surfer.
