My back yard and drive was tarmaced by now has stone chips. The problem is that heavy rain and poor drainage has allowed moss and grass to grow on the tarmac. This soaks up the water and creates more moss. I cleared the moss and grass away but within a few weeks it was back even thicker than before.

Can anyone suggest something I can put down to stop the encroachment but will not harm animals or the neighbours dog.

    Cheers

    Stewart

The best idea would be to cure the poor drainage - can you create a soakaway, or allow water to run away from the lowest point?

Whether you think you can do a thing, or think you cannot, you are right.

The ground is uneven and the person who did the work did not create a soak or drainage run. I have tried to create a run but the amount of soil from high ground just clogs everything up. I have had some success but even new worked areas get over run by the moss and grass within 10 days or so.

Just DONT, be tempted to use moss killer from "Original Touch".  I used their Batimoss products and they did not appear to even slow the growth, let alone kill anything.  I was most careful to follow their instructions but just ended up totally disappointed and skint.

There is no such thing as useless - you can always be a bad example.
