Our small fig-tree-in-a-pot has done very well for us this year and has produced 10 lovely fruit. However, a couple of months ago some of the leaves developed small brown spots, then bigger brown spots on more of them and those leaves go yellow and fall off. From what I've found elsewhere, it seems this may be a form of rust and I'm carefully removing all the affected leaves and have given one or two extra feeds with a seaweed mix to help general health in the plant. But does anyone know of anything else it might be, just in case? Many thanks

Rust spots go right through the leaf and have powdery spore masses - I hav enever seen a riust disease of fig.
Other diseases typiclaly have a yello wmargin around the spot, but you make no mention of this.
Therefore I think you need to check the root situation and consider oif the potting media has become collapsed and ill-drained leading to root damage. Repottingin John Innes No3 should help.

Thank you! There is a developing ants' nest in the pot at the moment, which is probably not helping matters. Once the final two figs have finished ripening in a couple of days' time, I think I'll have to get the tree out of the pot and see what's going on down there. Hopefully, re-potting at this time of year won't be too much of a strain if I keep it well-watered.
