Whats this half dead shrub/tree with reddish foliage?

Looks like Cotinus coggygria purpureus. Common name Smoke bush or Burning bush.

Please can you check the colour of the leaves. If they are purple it could be C. cogggria Royal Purple or Grace.
From you pic the leaves look green and the flowers make the shrub look purple. It is always difficult with a long shot to tell.

I have a couple of the red leaved variety. i've never seen green leaved ones before but i have to admit that from the flowers it does look like silver surfer is correct.
Gardening Tip When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it was a valuable plant.

Cotinus coggygria has green leaves. The purple leaved ones are possibly more popular as they colour so well in the Autumn.
