I wanted notification for the front gardens thread, but having posted to three other threads I am now getting email notifications from all of them. What did I do wrong in the first place? to stop them I have tried the link at the bottom which leads to an unavailable web page. I do not mind getting all the emails, they keep the messenger system on its toes.

To disable the emails, you will need to click on your username in the green section at the top of the page, then go into your profile and edit the email bits and don't forget to click on 'save'.

I have enabled "email notifications from forum/thread subscriptions and replies to my posts" in my profile but I am not getting any (have also looked in spam folder and none there).
What shall I do please?

Scroll to the top of this page and you will see on the right hand side under the word forums this list
Shortcuts
Click on Forum subscriptions and choose those you want to be notified about. If there are none selected then you won't be sent e-mails for subscriptions.
Have you also enabled the "Receive emails from My Garden" bit in your profile?
If that doesn't work then I don't know poppikin.

Thanks again.
I didn't know about the Forum subscriptions. It's sure to be that thank you and it should be OK now that I've done it.

Hello Anenome
I went into Forum subscriptions as you said and enabled Plants as that is where the post I subscribed to is and I had asked for email notification of replies.
I did now get notification of the thread I participated in but am now getting the whole of the Plant Forum as well which I don't want and cannot see how to stop that.

I think it's all or nothing for subscriptions poppikin. If you subscribe to a forum you'll be notified of all posts in that forum. To be honest I don't bother with email notifications at all, I just check the site when I'm on the computer.

I switched off the notification thingy as I was getting so many e-mails. I find it's easier just to log on and look at 'posts you have not read' That shows new topics and replies to existing ones.
Whether you think you can do a thing, or think you cannot, you are right.

I have just remarked in Plants thread that I usually get emails on any thread that I post in.... now I only get the odd email ie this morning had an email on Boggy responding - but when I went in to look there were 4 postings before the one from Boggy that I had not received?

Thanks everybody but what a pain.
In other Forums I am used to getting email notifications of only what I have specified and that is the posts/threads I have participated in not the whole section of the Forum and that is what I thought I had done on here.
My inbox is suffering from overload in Plants and I am going to follow Phot's-Moll but really I do like to know when something's been replied to and it's a bit of a nuisance to keep going on the site when there's nothing there.
Thanks again all.

Hi poppikin - I have just checked my profile and it says I get email notifications from any thread that I have posted on but I am not - I am just getting random emails and like you say - its a nuisance having to check all the time and find nothing or indeed find lots of replies so people think you are rude for not responding!

Hello Rae Thanks. That is what happened to me at first and then Anenome kindly pointed out above that you have to check Yes in the appropriate Forum your posts are in i.e Plants as well as in your Profile and then you get all the replies in Plants as well!!
I've now found that the best thing for me is to uncheck all the Forums.
Once logged in I click on my username at the top right of the page i.e. poppikin and then on the page it takes you to click on Forum threads about half way down on the right and that shows you replies in everything you've posted in up to date.
But you have to keep looking.........
