What sort of yield is the norm for growing potatoes in pots in compost?. I average just over 2lbs per seed for Pentland Javelin and Maris Piper.

There really isn't a "norm", it depends on the compost, feed, location etc.. of course in a container the tubers are limited by the size of the container and the quality of the compost and feed regime.

Although I didn't weigh ours, the first early 'Rocket' yielded between 10 and 16 spuds per plant, they were grown two to a bucket.

At the risk of starting fishermens' tales... I planted Maxine in an old nettle-infested manure heap this year (poor thing!), and hauled an amazing 80kg from the original 2kg bag.
