Dear Sir or Madam, PLEASE HELP ME!!! I am hoping someone out there can help make my dream come true to propose to my girlfriend on the Saturday 26th July at the RHS Tatton Show! My girlfriend loves the outdoors and everything that flowers and this will be her first visit (and mine) to the show and it seems like a perfect occasion for me to pop the question! My ideal proposal scenario will be after enjoying walking around the show in the morning to lead her to a display somewhere a little more private if possible where laid out in a floral design are the words “Will you marry me?” As I point this out to her I will get down on one knee, hold up the ring and ask her the question! So, can anyone help me make this happen??? Basically, I need someone to be able to setup the above floral display for me and ensure that it is kept safe and ready for when we head over. The details of how, where and the cost of course I will be happy to discuss with anyone who genuinely feels either they or someone they know can help me make my girl's day perfect!
I work in Knutsford so can meet up between now and the show to discuss this further and would be truly grateful for anyone that can help here. Thank you in advance
Yours hopefully MarriageProposal (please forgive the anonymity but I wish to avoid this in any way getting back to her and thus ruining the surprise by announcing my name on the forum)!

HMMMMMN! Well I suppose it's one way of making for a more interesting day but i think you would need a traders stand to fulfill your ambition because the show gardens certainly will not be able to cater for you, if no one can help due to the short notice you could pay someone to have the flower proposal at the roadside? you will need to pay a lot of money for this little venture to be put together, and of course what if your intended rejects the offer???????? Then you will need something else spelling out in flowers instead. Are you really sure you want to go ahead with this idea?
someone will of course have to buy in the flowers for the writing and then theres the champagne etc.. this is going to cost you the top end of £1000 my friend. You need to contact one of the trade stands that will be there and see if they will accomadate you, but in the words of the late Buddy Holly "Love will make a fool of you", you need to think this through long and hard before you go through with it, and then the wedding will cost you a fortune, are you 100% cast iron sure that your intended will say yes? Knutsford is only a small place what is your line of work my friend? If you are a wealthy chap who runs a bank or the Porsche dealership belongs to you, then i may be able to supply you with some expensive flowers.

As well as being a bit short notice to get it arranged, it would have to be in an area where no-one else had access to in case others saw it. You could of course, add your girlfriend's name in the display so that others would know it was intended for one person only, otherwise you could fork out for it and have others taking advantage of the situation.

Wow, and there was me expecting words of good luck and hats of to trying something romantic!
Sue - thank you for your practical advice, good point and heeded.
Digger - thank you for your words of warning that sound like they come from experience
I am pleased to say though that I was pursuing several ideas of how to propose and have now opted for something that fits the mark perfectly for us as a couple.
Thanks again x

The very best of luck to you MP, I hope everything goes as planned. It is a very good idea indeed and I'm sure your intended will be flattered, I would be very flattered too but I could also think of better and more permanent ways of spending that sort of money, it would be put to better use in my garden

I have consulted Mrs Bogweevil who recomends investing the cash in a more expensive ring - marriage has apparently reinforced her belief in the value of portable objects of high intrinsic worth that are readily turned into cash.

Well MP, you have got some lovely words of advice, i like Mrs. bogweevils thinking but if you splash out on an expensive rock and it all goes sour, you will not get your money back or worse you may not get the ring back!! you could buy a ring that looks expensive with a cubic zircona in it and your intended will still be impressed and you are lessening the financial risk should it all go sour later on.I agree with sue1002, you could make a purchase with the money for the garden, like a greenhouse or something or you could buy yourself a labrador which would be even better they are loyal dependable, will never let you down never nag at you like an old fishwife and as a bonus they will look after your property. You could buy the labrador as a present for your intended and pop the question at the same time, you could have a note tucked under the dogs collar asking for mattiage, and your intended will think the dog is for her but secretly it can be your dog and just to be sure register it with the vets in your name and have it microchipped, that way if there is ever a fallout you get to keep the dog.
