Dear all,
I was approached by a member of MyGarden who had a query regarding the addition of pictures to posts in the forums. I thought others might find a quick step-by-step guide on the subject useful too.
The best way to add pictures to posts is by using an online photo gallery like flickr (www.flickr.com) or photobucket (http://photobucket.com) to upload your pictures and then copy them to your posts on the MyGarden forums.
Step by step:
1. Upload your picture to an online gallery
2. Once uploaded, right-click on the picture in the gallery and select Copy
3. Go to your forum post in MyGarden (in Compose/Edit mode), right-click into the message window in the location where you wish the picture to appear and select Paste. The picture should be inserted into your post.
There is one drawback of this method: if you move or delete the photo from your online gallery it will disappear from your post in MyGarden. I recommend you create a special subfolder in your flickr or other gallery and make copies of your photos there to link on MyGarden.
Best wishes,
Admin

Thanks for posting this Admin, is there any chance that this post could be made a 'sticky' so it stays at the top for newcomers to see easily in case it gets pushed further down as other posts are made?

Thank you for the quick response. For people who do not wish to post photos on these sites is there no way to upload directly ?
Thanks

Unfortunately, due to technical and legal reasons it is not possible to upload pictures directly onto the website at present.

Could this be a sticky in the identification forum as that's where people are most likely to want to upload a picture.
Whether you think you can do a thing, or think you cannot, you are right.

Bumping this up, so new members can see how to post pictures.

Bumping again - it'd be good if this thread was easily visible so all new members know how to post pictures.

I have been trying admin's instructions at the top of this thread and have looked at both (www.flickr.com) and photobucket (http://photobucket.com). I am not familiar with image galleries and these kinds of sites.
I am stuck at Step 1. Upload your picture to an online gallery
Can someone please tell me what to click on in these sites and the steps to upload the picture?
Sorry if I am being dim.

poppikin, the one I use is photobucket. The first thing you need to do is join the site. Joining is free but they only allow registered users to upload photos. Once you have joined and logged in there will be instructions to upload photos. Hope that makes sense. Shout if you get stuck again.

Looks good to me!
Oh and anyone who has been paying attention round here recently will suspect that is a yellow wharburton. Oui?
The captions on photobucket don't appear, just the picture.
