    Hello,

Our school has just recently joined the Campaign for School Gardening website, which is fab by the way!  The children are really getting involved and suggesting things to plant.   We have decided to grow food and would like to know what can we plant now that we can harvest in the summer term.

     Thank you in advance

    :)

Loads of stuff! (I assume you mean any time between now and August?) Raddish, lettuce, mizuna, pak choi, rocket, endive, spring onion and lots of other salad veg could be grown from seed and harvested over summer - the children could eat it at school too without needing to cook it. Plants of tomatoes, peppers, chillies, cucumbers and courgettes are available in garden centres and DIY stores for about £1.50. They could be planted out from now on and will grow quickly.

Whether you think you can do a thing, or think you cannot, you are right.

    Hi Phot's-Moll,

Sorry it's taken me a while to respond.  Have planted some of your suggestions and the children and I look forward to our harvest Smile  With all this lovely weather we are always out in the garden with something to be done.  The flowers that we planted in old used tyres are in bloom and it really has transformed an area of the playground where it once looked drab.

Any other school out there whose joined the campaign?  Would love to hear how you're getting on.
