    Bought the 'Well Tended Perennial Garden' by Tracy DiSabato Aust, as recommended by you Miranda. Have pinched out Sedum 'Herbstfreude' and chopped the Rudbeckias and Helianthus in half (quite scary). She has some good ideas to keep our plants in order, it will be interesting to see the results.     During the recent Sedum trial at Wisley, we chopped back the front plant pf each three-plant row. You can see the result on my blog, here: http://tinyurl.com/2f697b.

    Thanks Graham, I am hoping I will not have to divide them so often now.
