Thank you Jon Jon I think looking at the info I can get on the web, that it may be a smooth Sow-Thistle. As such it is not a real hazard to our horses. So that is a relief

could it be a wild type of yarrow(achillea)? might be easier to identify if you can describe the leaves a little-shape, colour, texture etc...

the description fits Tansy, Tanacetum vulgare. type the word tansy into your search engine and you should get a picture that will either confirm or rule it out. if i remember correctly it was once used in cough medicine.

Hello to all in this forum, I am a newbie, we have a prolific weed in our garden, looks like a cross between a Ragwort & a dandelion, has a yellow flower (looks more like a ragwort than a dandelion) it stands much taller than both and is quite leggy and sparsely leaved, at its base it often shoots off 5 or 6 other legs, but always has a main one bolt upright.

We are mainly concerned because we are grazing horses and worried it may be from the ragwort family. It does not have the floret stages of the Ragwort, so am quite certain it is not!

Any advice is greatly appreciated
