Maybe you should try using the Land Share website that I heard Hugh Fernley Whittingstall mention on River Cottage:.http://landshare.channel4.com/

You just write a piece about yourself and where you live and hopefully someone will reply to say they have some land that they are willing to share with you (an un-used field or an allotment to share etc.) - seems a really good idea from the website. Give it a try you might get lucky :)

Lynsey

We found a very nice old kitchen garden on a farm that the lady farmer could no longer manage and she let us use it. I've heard of other people who have also found vegetable growing space on farms. As you're in a village, it's worth asking around.

Allotments

I'm looking for a little advice on how to get a allotment please. I live in a fairly small village which is quite a long way from the nearest allotments, which are about 10 miles away. We are surrounded by fields and such, but there are plenty of areas of 'waste' ground which could be potential sites for the village. Is there some way to go about trying to get allotments for the village? I'm sure there are plenty of people locally, besides myself, who would very much like it. The thing is though I have no idea how to go about enquiring about this. Any advice would be great. Quite frankly i'm amazed that there isn't something set up already.
